I cannot, I cannot stop sighing when I look at The New Kitchen!!! I just cannot!!! *sigh* I am in love folks. Utterly in love. My blog is my third child and this new kitchen is my foster child. I love it, I nurture it and at the end I will give it back with a buttload of beautiful memories. It is absolutely perfect. There just isn’t one thing I don’t like about it. Is that even possible? To have a PERFECT kitchen? I can’t pinpoint what I like the best because there are so many bests. I love the massive countertop. Sooooo much space to cut vegetables each on a different board, have the mixer out and running and the food processor at the same time and STILL have space for the cookie sheet with cookies that have to cool down. I love the insane amount of storage space I have as opposed to my last kitchen. I love my huuuuge fride/freezer, I love my huuuuge oven, I love that I have a little window at the back that lets in even more light, I love my double sink and I love even more that I hardly need it because I now have *drumroll please* A DISHWASHER!!! Ahhhhhh!!! A dishwasher folks. A good one. A really good one where you can put dirty pots and pans in and it gets everything out without rinsing. My hands have never been as beautiful as in the last couple weeks since I don’t have to do dishes anymore. A dishwasher is a Godsend……
I had serious storage issues in my old kitchen, which is why all my appliances had to stand on the already small kitchen counter, leaving hardly any space for chopping vegetables. Now I have massive counter top space AND enough cupboards to store all the appliances away in. I have so much storage for my few things that I can put one pan NEXT to the other as opposed to stacked up one on top of the other. Can you imagine?!! Same goes for my coffee cups. They used to be stacked in a suicidal manner in my old kitchen so every time I opened the cupboard they almost fell out and several died because of this. This time I have them lined up one NEXT to the other. Those are important things for me, ya know! Haha.
The oven is so big I can fit a large oven dish with a roast and veggies and STILL have space to add in something else to heat up in between. Or to put in two baking sheets at the same time to save on energy while baking cookies and the like. The stove top is ceramic. YAAAAY!!! They are so much easier to clean than any other stove top. Oh, oh, I almost forgot. My oven has a SELF CLEANER!!!! What am I gonna do with all that free time that I used to spend washing dishes and cleaning that darn oven???
The view out of my kitchen into my photo studio/dining room is also really pretty. I put my herb “garden” next to the window and it is absolutely loving its new home, the light and the heat from the radiator seem to make the herbs really happy because they seem to be growing faster. The light coming in from those two gorgeous big windows is my new light source for all the food photos. The photos for the Simple Pear Tart were taken on that white dining table there. I’m loving the light, I’m loving the direction it comes in. It makes taking pictures even more fun than it always was already.
Even preparing coffee here in the morning is special because the sun shines right into the kitchen and you are instantly in a good mood. Isn’t it gorgeous my little foster baby? *sigh*
I am writing this post on Canadian Thanksgiving and today is definitely a day to give thanks to many many many things in my life. One of them is absolutely THE NEW KITCHEN!!!
