Because every foodie should be treated to special gifts from Santa! Are you Santa? Here is the best gift guide for foodies ;)
If you are just a tiny incy wincy bit like me you HATE going shopping when everybody else is shopping. Like, how do people bear walking around in masses and fighting over stuff in shops?
My head spins just thinking about having to go downtown in December.
However, if you are just a tiny incy wincy bit like me you also LOVE buying people gifts. Thinking about what they’ll love the most and go get them exactly what they want.
With my kids it tends to be easy. They tell “Santa” exactly what they want. With cut out pictures of toys and exact instructions of color and size, lol.
When it comes to friends and family though it gets more difficult. Now, I’m no expert in gift guides for happy wives and husbands. I’m also no expert in jewellery or electronics. The latest fashion trends? Um, what was “fashion” again?
Ya, so let me give you the most amazing and Best Gift Guide for FOODIES!!! Because your foodie friend, wife, husband, sister, brother, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa …… deserve only the best!
Here’s what you want to get your loved ones this year:
#1 Thing on a Foodie’s Wish List (9 million wish lists to be exact)
In case you were doubting it, it’s true! This thing up there is *insert-angelical-ahhh-in-the-background* amazing *end-angelical-ahh-in-the-background*. Remember the mind-blowing good Instant Pot Chicken and Rice? That’s only one of the million things you can make with it. This was by far the best buy of the year for me! Make someone happy with it! They’ll thank you forever and ever and ever!
The Best Peeler in the History of Peelers
Victorinox is my favorite brand when it comes to peelers, paring knifes and nail scissors. The sharpness is incomparable and they last for eeeever! I got this exact peeler when I moved out of my parent’s home when I was 18 years old. It’s still in my kitchen and used almost daily and it’s STILL sharp! That’s 16 years with the same peeler. Peeling butternut squash, mango, celery root, all easy peasy with this magic tool!
This Stainless-Steel and Glass Water Kettle
I don’t know what it is about watching water boil but it’s relaxing. After watching fire this is the next best thing, hehehe. I bought this kettle when I moved to Montreal 4 years ago and if I ever have to replace it, I’ll replace it by the exact same one!
The Dutch Oven for the Bread
There is literally NOTHING better than homemade artisan bread! For that bread and any other artisan bread you need a dutch oven. This is a must have tool for home bread baking! This one works perfectly well and if you want to make a life-time investment that you can even hand down to future generations, get a “Staub”. My favorite brand :)
The Cookbook for Real Foodies
Guys, I don’t preserve food at home. I live in a small apartment close to downtown. There is no such thing as growing a garden, harvesting veggies and preserving them. Uh-uh. STILL, this is my favorite cookbook this year. The recipes in there can all be made with store-bought ingredients and they are out-of-this-freakin-world!
These Stainless-Steel Tweezer Tongs
I kept seeing Byron Talbott use these in many of his recipe videos and thought they looked like they’d come in handy here and there. I bought them and there literally hasn’t been a day I haven’t used them! Imagine bacon crisping up beautifully in a cast iron skillet but fat jumping out of the pan all over the place and it’s time to turn the bacon. Grab your long tongs, stay far away from the shooting fat situation and turn the bacon like it’s nothing ;)
The Banana Protector that led to the funniest Amazon comments
So at first it might be a bit embarrassing to take them to the office but you’ll get over it. The first time you take out your perfect and completely unsquished banana (<- is there any way one can talk about bananas and banana protectors without laghing? Hahahaha. I’m serious though, for real!) you’ll be happy you bought this thing. My man takes his banana to work in a banana protector every time. OMG looool.
This Reusable and Recyclable Natural Fiber Bento Box
This was one of my latest buys this year and after 1 use it immediately got onto the list! I’ve been looking forever for glass and stainless steel container alternatives. Glass is amazing for at home but on the go? Ugh. And all stainless steel containers I have are pretty bulky and I can’t fit many of them in the lunch box. These are made of rice husk and thus super eco-friendly but still dishwasher safe and micro oven safe. Watch out for meal plan recipes in them soon :)
These Bee’s Wax Wraps
A friend in Montreal introduced them to me. She makes them herself and she sold me a couple. I’ve had and used them ever since. They are the best eco-friendly alternative for cling film. It’s important that you don’t but hot food on it though!!
Imagine the recipe possibilities KitchenAid Sheet Cutter
This is on my own wish list!! I have no clue if it works as well as portrayed on photos and videos but if it just remotely as effective this seems to become 2018’s “spiralizer”! If it does though, imagine all the veggie lasagnas and gluten und grain-free wraps and rolls. I mean….the possibilities are endless!!
Meal Prep like a PRO
Meal prep like a super professional, writing down all planned out meals on a calendar that sticks to your fridge. Erase and rewrite as the month goes. My #1 tool for planning out Green Healthy Cooking’s “meals plan”.
A food pretty-fier
Remember the prettiest Avocado Toast ever? Well, it’s no magic skill, it’s just this super handy melon baller ;) And you can use it for tons of other fruits, too. Dragon fruit in little ball form is such an amazing way to pretty-fy fruit platters or smoothie bowls. It also serves muuuch better for coring apples than the typical apple corer where the core stays stuck.
That’s it! I hope you enjoy your holiday shopping and especially the glowing eyes of that gifted foodie :)
